We use the Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon (ENABLE), the official word list for Scrabble tournaments. It contains over 100,000 validated English words. Weāve added a few modern terms commonly accepted in Words With Friends and Wordle, but we mark those separately if theyāre not tournamentālegal.
At the moment, you canāt directly input a blank tile, but you can simulate one. If youāre missing a letter in a Scrabble rack, just enter all the known letters and then use the length filter to browse words of the desired length. Weāre working on a dedicated blankātile mode.
For typical inputs of 7ā10 letters, results appear in under 50 milliseconds ā faster than you can blink. Even with the maximum 30 letters, the lookup takes less than 200āÆms. Because the dictionary is preāindexed in memory, thereās no I/O wait.
It depends on the context. In casual games with friends, itās often seen as a learning aid. In official tournaments, external assistance is prohibited. We recommend using it for practice and vocabulary building ā never during live, sanctioned games.
